Software Package Definition

Define an immutable agentOS .aospkg artifact.

An agentOS software package is a packed v2 .aospkg file containing commands and their runtime files.

The container contains:

  1. a fixed header;
  2. a versioned vbare package manifest;
  3. a versioned mount index;
  4. the mount tar.

agentos-package.json is toolchain input only. Packing encodes its runtime fields into the vbare manifest and removes the JSON file from the mounted payload.

Commands are projected under /opt/agentos/pkgs/<name>/<version> and linked under /opt/agentos/bin. The sidecar reads the package projection live.

The package format contains no callback or host-path metadata. Install a package from an HTTPS URL or a trusted local path, each with an optional exact digest; see Software.
